COMPANY PROFILE -

Backstage Creations is the premiere company to bring corporate clients backstage at television award shows and specials and provide them an exclusive opportunity to personally introduce their products and services to the Performers/Presenters in a room called "The Retreat". Celebrities visit "The Retreat" during rehearsal time to relax and choose gifts donated by participating companies. This takes the current gift basket frenzy a step further by providing backstage access that was previously unattainable.

For many companies, this is more effective than placing products in gift baskets. "The Retreat" offers clients the opportunity to meet with celebrities directly, introduce their product lines, get feedback and let each celebrity choose the items they desire. "The Retreat" assures participating companies that each celebrity will actually receive his or her gift.

Our clients include major corporations such as Baccarat, Coach, Sprint, Fendi and Palm as well as up-and-coming designers eager for the exclusive opportunity to personally introduce their products and services to celebrities in a room called "The Retreat".

Karen Wood - President/Founder

Backstage Creations was created in 2000 by Karen Wood, formerly a talent coordinator on over 50 award shows including: the Grammy, Emmy, SAG, Billboard Music and MTV Awards. She understands the needs of both her producer and celebrity clientele and blends this with her contacts in the publicity world to create the most innovative sensation to hit the award show circuit. Her vision has conceived a new way of marketing that is effective and brings consistent results at every event. By some odd twist of fate, Karen, as the biggest chocoholic of the office, has managed to attract what seems to be the most chocoholic staff in Los Angeles. Her dedication to client satisfaction has set Backstage Creations apart and maintaining the company’s reputation is her top priority. She takes workaholic to new levels, often found in the office from 7am to 9pm. She manages to squeeze in yoga and Pilates classes a couple of times a week (and lunch, if she remembers) and adores bringing yoga into our office loft (her dream office space manifested, loft and all). Despite her drive and focus on the company, every once in a while she will let her inner party girl, from the days of award shows in Europe, back out on staff outings in Miami and New York, where she lets loose after an out of town show. Her other love is travel with Larry, her understanding and tolerant boyfriend. Since the inception of Backstage Creations, they have still managed to squeeze in trips to Bali, Hungary, Belize, and Mexico for much needed and much deserved vacations.

Crystal De Jesus - Production Manager and Talent Relations

A graduate from UNLV with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Crystal is on her way to obtain her Master’s in Sports Management. Growing up with four older brothers, being the youngest and only girl of five, she grew up with a natural passion for sports. A true die-hard LA Lakers fan, and Indy Colts fan, she will wear her purple/gold and blue/white with pride! With occupational backgrounds in retail, hotel and events management, Crystal is always eager to learn and absorb new experiences. Formerly a resident from Las Vegas, NV, and tired of the desert terrain (and not as big of a fan of the city like Janice) she is very happy to be out of Vegas and have the convenience of the ocean and mountains in Southern California as her surrounding landscape, as well as the cooler weather. She loves to travel and meet new people. She enjoys the thrill of a death-defying rollercoaster, but refuses to watch horror movies. She’s a mere 4’11 ½” but is a little fireball! Please don’t be alarmed by her sarcasm after first meeting her, she takes pride that she is one of the funniest people she knows………no, seriously!

Christina Consalvi - Event Manger

A VERY proud graduate of USC's Annenberg School, with a degree in PR and Communications in the Entertainment Industry, Christina Consalvi is the office's walking, talking Us Weekly. She's part OCD and part fairy dust, with an addiction to shopping for the cutest new fashions and anything that sparkles. She loves music, counting singer-songwriters Jay Nash and Gabriel Mann among her favorites, but has a weakness for anything pop music or pop culture. This girl will hold her breath for an *NSYNC reunion tour. She loves her interns, Lucky Magazine, HBO's Entourage, watching and learning pop and hip hop choreography and dinners with her best friend at Souplantation. The two of them have also been known to rock out, diva style, performing Whitney and Britney's (Houston and Spears) greatest hits on long car rides to Vegas. Events are her passion, having worked throughout her college years both assisting production on awards shows and interning at PR firms Bragman Nyman Cafarelli and mPRm doing both office publicity work and events. She loves the energy and rush of the whirlwind of creating an event, and no matter how overwhelming the process, deep down, she really loves every stress filled moment. The satisfaction of seeing the final product makes it all worth it.

Pamella Bardin - Product Placement and Branding Specialist

Pamella is a true girly girl at heart. One of the first things anyone learns about her is that her favorite color is pink, and she demonstrates it through her collection of pink wardrobe pieces from tee shirts to purses to even luggage! Chocolate also wins her heart. She prides herself on being creative, sincere and having a great love for laughter. But she isn't all sugar and spice-- she's also a car fanatic with a special admiration for the old muscle classics. You'll find she's a movie buff too - keeping up to date on all the Hollywood happenings and loaded with behind the scenes trivia. But, her first love is music, she couldn't get enough of it growing up so she entered the music industry and became an A&R Executive and later created her own musician inspired makeup line. In her spare time you'll find her watching comedy (especially I Love Lucy re-runs), playing guitar, snow skiing, bike riding, dancing all night, making people laugh, giving free make up lessons and traveling often, as learning to fly has yet to be checked off on her to do list!

Karine Noel - Product Placement and Branding Specialist

Karine is our international addition to the Sales Team, hard to miss with her distinctive French accent. She has been in the States for 8 years, first living in Chicago working for United Airlines and Air France, then moving to NYC for a year and a half working for British conglomerate Rexam. She has finally settled here on the West Coast, in Los Angeles with Backstage Creations. She loves sales, interacting with people, exchanging ideas and making things happen. Her first true love is aviation; it only took one flying lesson to get her hooked! Her passion motivated her to go back to school to get her commercial license and instructor license--she even taught full time for a few years, and continues in her spare time to instruct student pilots. She divides her time between being airborne and the exciting world of entertainment, finding cool products for events. Karine has worked in Europe, has traveled intensively throughout her childhood, even lived on Mauritius Island. It definitely gave her a sense of adaptability and an open mind, but she finds herself more in tune in big metropolitan areas where she can meet exciting people and socialize which is also very important to her. As much as she loves the rush of a city though, she will always be happiest at 10,000 feet.

Janice Rosas - Publicist

Janice comes to Backstage Creations after working in production at E! Entertainment Television as a talent coordinator with people like Star Jones, Kathy Griffin, Robert Verdi of E! Fashion Police, Giuliani DePandi and Patrick Stinson of E! News Live and trend and style maven, Bobbi Thomas. With her infectious personality, she's the type of person who can feel like one of your best friends minutes after meeting her. Her TV addictions include cooking shows, infomercials and "Friends." If she had to pick a sitcom character to be, it would definitely be Rachel-- post hair-do, but pre baby. She is an 80s fanatic, from John Hughes movies to Madonna's Greatest Hits, she even owns one of those red leather Michael Jackson jackets circa the "Beat It" video, even though it pains her to admit it. In her spare time she loves shopping, especially bargain hunting and pampering herself with mani/pedis. Janice loves Las Vegas, where she uses her great poker face, but she also likes that what happens there, stays there! Like Christina, Janice knows how to work a buffet and looks forward to staff dinners at Souplantation, which might just turn into marathon competitions.

Peanut - Office Manager

Often seen lounging in the front office, Peanut runs a tight ship. Make no mistake, Karen may be President, but Peanut is really the one in charge here! Generally preferring to oversee duties she has delegated to others, she manages to keep things running smoothly at Backstage Creations. Having helped found the company, she started by answering phones and catching lunch and has graduated to unabashedly demanding petting and catching early morning rays in the front doorway. In order to keep her staff in line, she often uses the tactic of climbing on their keyboards, just to make sure they're plugging away at their emails. She has a fondness for mid-day treats and watching Karen at the helm of the business.
